This is a beautiful piece of writing, Nicole. I loved the imagery you created - "the dancing fairies testing the air, the grey slate roofs slinking stealthily through the green, the fresh green light fluttering atop towering trees". I was transported into the magical freshness of a beautiful Spring day. Really lovely - well done. I feel a bit like a school teacher marking your work - hope it doesn't come across like that. I loved reading this

I thought I had replied but seem not to. Biggest apologies.

So glad you liked it. Mark away, feedback is fuel and provides that creative spark and chemical hit to the brain that says “write more, make more people happy!”. I’ve been a reluctant writer of late, worried about what is likeable as I have written some things that are a bit polar opposite of this. I think I should just post them though rather than decide what others may like to read. It’s tough and I say that with an ironic chuckle, because it’s just writing, but also, that’s my creative soul and please, everyone, please like it!

Thanks for your lovely comment. X

This is such luscious writing, Nicole! The way you explained rewiring your experience of chronic pain is remarkable 🧡

Thank you, Emma. I really appreciate that. I also appreciate that you commented on this piece today. It’s like a hedgehog has decided to take a nap on its back on my head currently and the tinnitus is wailing like a banshee, remembering to reframe like this is necessary (but also, quite enjoying the hedgehog metaphor now I think about it - any time he might decide it’s time to get up and snuffle off somewhere else!).

Aw, I’m so sorry you’re in pain. And I agree: the hedgehog metaphor is very cute!
