Monthly Mix - Wake Up, It’s Spring.
A soundtrack for emergence from a winter slumber into the sunshine and warmth of Spring.
Hello Dear Friend,
I don’t know about you but this past week has felt so delightfully spring like. Trees have greened up with that beautifully wondrous fresh swathe of new leaves (so green it’s almost luminous, but in a good way rather than an 80’s sweat band kind of way, that’s also pretty good actually, anyway…) temperatures encouraging new growth just about everywhere. It has been warm and sunny and literally life giving and I didn’t know how much I needed it, but wow, the sun on my body felt like a gift from the universe. Which, I’ve never thought about it before, but it kind of is.
All of this beautiful behaviour by the universe and the weather inspired this month’s mix, which is appropriately titled “Wake up, it’s Spring”.
I often think of these mixes as cinematic soundtracks to our lives. This time I’ve added some direction, for want of a better way of saying. If you are a film / TV person and have a word for the theming of narratives to music or an accurate description of what I’m trying to achieve, I’d love to hear it.
If you love a list or don’t have Spotify, the playlist is below as always.
With love and apologies if you are in the southern hemisphere, maybe I’ll flip the mix on it’s head for you? Let me know if that’s of interest in the comments below.

Which song most feels like spring to you?
Whilst all of them encompass various elements of the season to me, I think the one I feel most drawn to is Rose Bay by Ludovico Einaudi. A gentle wistful slumbering tone interjected by some shards of movement, moments of the siren of the sun calling us to wake up. It feels like gentle hope.
Florence is a close second. Chaos and frenetic energy, movement and life. The lyrics are apt too - "Daughter of the rain and snow", kind of perfectly explains spring.
Nicole, this is wonderful. The way you’ve woven the mix into a narrative—spring awakening, cinematic vibes, and all—is exactly what makes your work stand out. It’s not just a playlist, it’s an entire experience.
