Hello Dear Friend,
I started making this playlist back in the depths of Autumn (and my broken brain has been getting in the way of giving it to you ever since). Golden leaves falling from the trees and a crisp chill to the air carried in on the breeze. Thoughts turned to frosty mornings and the first fall of snow and I knew I wanted to make something magical for you to soundtrack those days.
Whilst the first fall of snow has come and gone, Winter is still the reigning seasonal champion. I write to you with a jumper over my knees and a blanket draped over my shoulders, in a room with an Aga. And I still have the pinch of winter’s cold in my skin and through the layers of whatever it is holding together.
Whilst I’ve mostly made peace with the season, because as a friend once said “it’s six months of the year, you might as well not hate it” (or some variant thereof), the grey days and cold of the last week or two are starting to make it feel like an endurance test. Brutally cold blue sky days good. Grey mizzle days permissible for the shortest of times possible because, well, they suck. And so this feels like the prefect time to add some twinkling magic into the mix.
My husband helped put this one together for you because my head hasn’t been great lately. He worked really hard on it to blend something to the flavour profile I gave him to work with. I think he did a super job, let him know what you think of it in the comments.
If you love a list or don’t have Spotify, the playlists are below as always.
With love and many blanket layers of warmth until Spring decides to make an appearance,
V.V
P.S If you are in the UK and looking to treat yourself, I’m running a big sale over on my website for those in the know, i.e - you! I don’t shout about my art site, ever actually, but head over to victoryvictory.co.uk for some flowers that last and use the ever so inventively titled code BIGSALE for 55% off. Apologies to those not in the UK, the postage thing has always outfoxed me for delicate items that need to not be bent and are too thick to roll, but also the environmental impact never sat quite right either - please support your local artists!
